Encyclopedic regional cuisine cookbooks? – cooking regionalcuisines
What are some examples of “encyclopedic” or “definitive” cookbooks for different regional/national cuisines? The types of cookbooks I’m thinking of aim to provide recipes for all of the dishes considered part of the region’s canonical cuisine.
Some examples of what I’m talking about:
French cuisine: Larousse Gastronomique
Italian cuisine: The Silver Spoon
North American cuisine: The Joy of Cooking perhaps?
I’d be especially interested in finding equivalent cookbooks for Indian and Chinese cuisines (if they exist!), but any regional cuisine would be interesting. posted by Yiggs to Food & Drink (26 answers total) 25 users marked this as a favorite The Thousand Recipe Chinese Cookbook .

Top Events Ideas for Celebrating Corporate Annual Days
“People of our time are losing the power of celebration. Instead of celebrating we seek to be amused or entertained.” ― Abraham Joshua Heschel
A celebration is the act of showing reverence and appreciation actively. Getting entertained is its opposite. Entertainment is usually passive. The reason is guests receive pleasure from an outside source like performers and don’t get involved in the act.
It is true, mainly, for the corporate sector events. The reason is most annual celebrations in Dubai mean attending a boring music show or dance performance, eating food, listening to speeches before driving back home.
However, thanks to professional event planning companies that are using out-of-the-box ideas for corporate clients nowadays. These events can fit the definition of active celebrations (and have entertainment plans in them too).
So, when thinking of event ideas for your employees, always opt for the best corporate events Dubai based services to ensure your guests enjoy the most. Professional event planners are replete with unique event ideas that can baffle your mind.
Keep reading to know some of the best event ideas for throwing excellent annual day functions in Dubai. Events Ideas to Organize Company’s Big Days Annual days in the corporate sector hold high importance. All companies strive to celebrate these events with a bang. However, only a few succeed in it. The reason is thinking of a new idea and organizing it as planned is a tough deal. Here are some of the best corporate event ideas for you. Plan Outdoor Breakfast by International Chefs If you think corporate lunch and dinner ideas have become too common. Go for early morning breakfast at an open place – like a lake, stream or park.
What’s unique in this is that morning time is the most enjoyable time of the day. Secondly, you will get a chance to taste different breakfast meals from around the world in this event.
It’s because American breakfast is completely different from Indian meal. And Chinese breakfast dishes are different from Emirati recipes. Why not try out some international cuisines in this event? Throw an Innovative Themed Party Another way to celebrate your company’s big day is to throw a themed party. Don’t choose general themes for this party. The reason is it will break the purpose of arranging a themed event.
Instead, you should select a different theme of your choice. For example, you can choose a theme of your favorite movie, book or a video game.
Well, the sky is the limit when it comes to thinking of themes . Don’t worry about the arrangement; your event planner will take care of it! People in History Costume Party Ask your employees to tell you which are their favorite people from the olden times. List down the names that they give you like some will say, Shakespeare, Plato, J.F. Kennedy etcetera.
Now, with the help of your event organizer, plan out a costume party in which your guests will be the people from the times gone by. Bottom Line Company big days mean a lot for owners as well as employees. It is the reason why such an event should be unique, different and jam-packed fun.
Choose an event idea that is given above, and don’t forget to make sure you hire a top-notch Corporate events Dubai based services to instill life into your show.
Glad you had a blast!
We had to leave Nashville and move to the memphis area and when we go back to nashville to visit here are a few things we check out (in case you ever visit again):
Woodlands Indian Cuisine : very legit vegetarian Indian food. They can make it quite spicy
Cafe Coco : Big sandwiches, good tots and coffee. Great place to sit and eat on the patio if the weather permits. My wife usually avoids sitting on the patio but the greenery growing on the trellis walls blocks the wind and provides shade.
Mcnamara’s Irish Pub : great Scotch eggs. And if the wait is too long you go across the street to Phat Bites instead for a great sandwich shop/bar with a lot of character
Mckay’s used books/games/movies : many cities do not have a used super store like this. Memphis area sure doesn’t.
Opryland convention center : Next to the mall, the interior of this convention center is amazing (and is free to walk around in and is open 24 hours) great place to take a wander, especially on a rainy day.

Chung, Marie Jamora and Jason McLagan. The series is led by the Foodie Fam – eight talented friends bound together by their knowledge and love for culture, cuisine and sharing family moments around the table. Chung. “But I’ve learned the most interesting things about food and culture come from simply sharing stories with friends while enjoying a great meal. I wanted to see a show with that vibe–where the audience felt like a member of our Foodie Fam and could share in these food adventures together.” The show will have a special sneak peek screening Sunday, May 5 as part of the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival at the Japanese American National Museum in Little Tokyo. Best Indian Restaurants in Montreal
A post shared by Dahlia M (@dahllii) on Sep 28, 2017 at 11:56am PDT
Bombay Mahal is one of the most popular Indian restaurants in the city, and with good reason. This Parc Ex eatery not only serves up some of the most delicious Indian dishes in all of Montreal, but it’s bring your own wine and offers delivery. You’ll find an array of regional specialties from both the north and south of India on the menu, my personal favourite being their chicken korma. Other highlights include the lamb biryani, onion bhaji, and the aloo gobi. No matter what you order, you can guarantee it’s going to be packed with flavour. Don’t believe me? Bombay Mahal is so popular that they opened an express version of their restaurant in the Plateau, which serves up the same great food in a small, counter-service spot on Saint Laurent. Flavours of India Restaurant
Another Parc Ex restaurant, located mere blocks from Bombay Mahal, is Flavours of India. At this no-frills spot, the focus is on the quality of the food, and it does not disappoint! Pakora, chana masala, butter chicken, and of course, naan, are some of the most popular dishes at Flavours of India, which specializes in North Indian cuisine. Though their regular menu is available at all hours, it’s their lunch buffet that is sure to capture your attention. Their lunch buffet, served daily, offers a variety of curries (both meat and vegetarian), freshly-baked naan, gulab jamun, basmati rice, samosas, and more. At just $8 on weekdays and $10 on weekends, the buffet at Flavours of India can’t be beat.
